TUESDAY, APRIL 23, 2013 THE DAILY NEWS, LONGVIEW, WASH. The Daily News online: www.tdn.com OBITUARIES Daryl D. and Shirley M. Jenkins Daryl Dean Jenkins, 73, and Shirley Mae Jenkins, 72, of Longview passed away April 16,2013, in Boone, N.C. He was born Jan.

6.1940. and she was born July 27, 1940. Daryl and Shirley were high school sweethearts and graduated from Clarkston High School in Clarkston, Wash. Daryl received his undergraduate degree from Washington State University. He and Shirley subsequently moved to Manhattan, where he completed his master's degree at Kansas State University.

They married in 1960 and moved to Longview, where they raised their family, in 1967. Daryl worked as a counselor and Shirley was an office manager for Cascade Natural Gas. Following retirement, they Daryl D. Jenkins Shirley enjoyed travelling and spend- M. Jenkins ing time with family and friends.

They were devoted grandparents and treasured every moment spent with their grandchildren. Daryl was an avid collector of all things interesting with a special interest in wood and old trade beads. Shirley enjoyed shopping, gardening, and doting on her family. They are survived by a daughter, Kris Hauschildt of Longview; a son, Doug Jenkins of Olympia; a granddaughter, Hailey Hauschildt of Longview; two grandsons, Cody Moraine of New York and Daniel Jenkins of Tumwater, Daryl's brother, David Jenkins and his wife C.J. of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Shirley's brother, Gary Watts and his wife Patsye of Clarkston.

They were preceded in death by their parents, Clyde and Anna Rector Jenkins, and William Floyd "Jack" Watts and Gwen Graham Watts Shirley's stepfather, Wallace Dearing; and her sister, Jean Mattoon. A celebration of life service is planned for May 11. The location and time will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Cowlitz County, P.0. Box 172, Longview, WA, 98632.

Neuneker Sr. Raymond Lee Neuneker of Silver Lake was born April 22, 1922, in Bushnell, to Andy and Sadie (Wilson) Neuneker and died April 17, 2013.

He married Agness Fowler Nov. 16,1942, in Kelso. She survives him at home. Also surviving are two sisters, Sadie Weddle of Methow, and Joyce McHenry of Brewster, a brother, Gene, in Puyallup; seven children, Ray in Silver Lake, Dan in Longview, Judy Almquist, Frank and John, all in Methow, Cathy Anderson of Tacoma and Craig Neuneker of Castle Rock; 26 grandchildren; 43 greatgrandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry in 1972.

Mr. Neuneker served in the Navy during World War Il aboard the USS Phelps, taking part in the Battle of the Coral Sea. He enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Hubbard Funeral Home.

Please sign the guest book at www.tdn.com/obits. Don Jurvakainen Don Albert Jurvakainen, 58, of Longview passed away at the Hospice Care Center April 17, 2013. He was born in Astoria Aug. 8,1954, to Arnie and Bertha (Huru) Jurvakainen. He was raised in Longview and graduated from R.A.

Long High School in 1973. He married Joni Harris at St. Rose Catholic Church in 1976. Don was; a routeman for Cascade News for 21 years and was the longtime owner of the Jurvakainen Landscape Company, which he founded and was passionate about until his death. He loved his work and the people he met in business.

He was a loving man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Don was a joker and enjoyed making people smile. An outdoorsman through and through, he loved hunting, boating and, most of all, fishing. He enjoyed hosting holiday dinners and barbecues for family and friends. Don Jurvakainen He was a coach and a board member at Western Ball Park for many years, as well as serving as groundskeeper there.

Don is survived by his wife Joni; two sons, Ryan and his wife, Lindsay, and Michael and his wife, Megan; four grandchildren, Austin, Tressa, Gunnar and Hadley; his father, Arnie Jurvakainen; four brothers and their wives, Ron and Marlene, Ed and Kristine, Bob and Nancy, and Jon and Kristina. Jurvakainen; a brother-in-law, Ed Wisuri; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeanie and Junior Wikman, Mary and Joe Schoenlein and Linda and Bob Byman; numerous nieces and nephews; a large extended family; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha; a brother, Brian; and a sister, Delores Wisuri. Don's family expresses deep gratitude to the staff of Hospice Care Center for their compassionate and loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don's name to the Community Home Health Hospice, P.O.

Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632. A vigil service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Rose Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m.

Hudson, 72, of Longview passed away April 18, 2013. He was born May 21, and Lucille (Jennings) the local area from Gary served 20 years 14 years as a merchant working on hot rods, Gary J. Johnson 1940, in Spokane, to Burt Hudson. Gary moved to Vancouver 13 years ago. in the Coast Guard and seaman.

He enjoyed traveling and writing. He the published author of Had to Go Out," a true of a boating tragedy. was intelligent, thoughtkind and had a good sense humor. He knew how to get done, whatever they be. married Joyce (LaCourLarson April 29, 2000, Longview.

She survives at home. Also survivare a daughter, Jeanine Spangle of Deer Park, and a son, Gary Abraham of Woodland; three stepchildren, Gregory Larson of Kelso and Sheri Barella and Eric Larson, both of Longview; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by two sisters. A memorial service is planned for 5 p.m. Friday at Columbia Heights Assembly of God Church.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Columbia Funeral Service. Please sign the guest book at www.tdn.com/obits. James R. 'Jim' York James Richard York, 64, of Kalama died April 17,2013, at home. He was born May 10, 1948, in Ottumwa, lowa, to Russell and Dorothy (Phariss) York.

He graduated from Loveland High School in Loveland, in 1966, and served in the Army Medical Corps during the Vietnam War. On May 1, 1971, he married Linda Reinders in Lakewood, Colo. She survives him at home. Jim owned and operated Jim York Construction building Burger King restaurants throughout the North- west from 1991 to 2001. He moved to the local area eight years ago.

He was a mem- James R. York ber of the Kalama Krazy Kruisers car club and the Moose Lodge. Jim loved spending time with his family, classic cars (including his prized 1965 Chevy SS), camping, talking politics and woodworking. Jim was an avid Denver Broncos and Washington Huskies fan. He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather and brother.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Jim is survived by his wife, Linda York; a daughter, Amy Salsberry (Chris) of Fredericksburg, a son, Ryan York (Heidi) of Seattle; two brothers, Russell York of Jackson, and Gary York of Loveland, and four grandchildren, Hayley Salsberry, Gillian Salsberry, Alexander York and Greta York. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. today at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell in Gresham, with celebrant Bob Weinberger.
