LONGVIEW WASH 12 Obituaries THE DAILY NEWS Lillian (Huckabee) Quigley In 1959 tire family moved to Duluth Minn where he was raised and graduated from Duluth High School He lived in Seaside for die past tliree years Mr Quigley joined tire Army in 1973 and served in military intelligence in Europe He later lived in Minnesota Alaska and Washington prior to moving to Seaside He was employed in construction and building maintenance Survivors include his mother in Naselle a sister Patricia Patzer of Naselle and several nieces and nephews A graveside service will be held at 1 pm Thursday at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle with pastor John Indermark officiating Arrangements are by Chapel by the Sea Long Beach Lovera James Longtime local resident Lovera Gladys James 96 of Kelso died June 25 2001 at the Hospice Care Center She was bom Feb 10 1905 in Canada to Henry Luther and Rosa May (Prevo) Austin She lived in tire Longview-Kelso area most of her life coming from Red Deer Alberta Canada Mrs James attended Stella Lutheran Chapel and was a member of the Bunker Hill Grange for almost 65 years She erjoyed crocheting afghans playing cards and animals especially cats She was well-liked and will be remembered for her gentle nature and sensitivity for others She married Roy James in Longview April 9 1927 He preceded her in death in 1965 Also preceding her in death was a grandson Ronald Champion in 1986 Survivors include a son Darrel James of Longview a daughter Dolores I Champion of KeLso six grandchildren Michael James of West Linn Ore Steven James of West Port Ore Richard James of Clatskanie Sandy Cliampion of Kelso Shelly Luff of Longview and Debbie Stillwell in Illinois 12 greatgrandchildren two stepgreat-grand-children and tliree great-great-granddaughters A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Friday at Dalil-McVicker Funeral Home with the Rev Vicki Maly officiating Interment will take place at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens The viewing will be held from Center Cascade Northwest Funeral Chapel Stone William Johnson 48 Rainier died Monday at St John Medical Center Haaianson-Groulx Mortuaiy Rainier John A Shockley John Albert Shockley 84 of Longview died June 24 2001 at the Hospice Care Center He was bom Jim 6 1917 in Tekoa Wash to Frank and Ethel (Sprinkle) Shockley Before moving to Longview tliree years ago he spent summers in Leavenworth and winters in Arizona for 11 years Mr Shockley worked as a quality control inspector for Paccar Inc in Renton Wash He enjoyed fishing and just being around the house He was an innovative drinker and a talented mechanic He married Ruby Tollefson in Nov 1987 in Shoreline Wash She survives him at home Also surviving are a son John Shockley Jr of Lynnwood Wash two daughters Shirley A Persson of Camano Island Wash and Patricia Ennesser of Seattle two brothers Ted Shockley of Lake Goodwin Wash and George Sprinkle of Seattle five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by an infant son Robert Shockley A graveside service will be held at 1 pm Friday at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Snohomish Wash Memorial contributions may be made to tire Community Home Healdr Hospice PO Box 2067 Longview WA 98632 Ilubbanl Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements Bemetta Worth Longtime local resilient Bemetta Mirie Worth 77 of Longview died June 23 2001 at St Jolin Medical Center She Was bom Sept 8 1923 in Meemeasc to Matliias and Veronica'tBogenscluietz) Willmas and graduated from liigli school there She moved to Longview in 1946 Mrs Worth worked as a manager at several local area mini-marts She retired in 1985 after working many years at Comer She epjoyed gardening and spending time with family She was dearly loved She married Miller August Worth in August 1944 He preceded her in death in 1971 Also preceding her in death was a sister Caroline Thompson Survivors include five sons Patrick Worth of Kelso and Michael Worth Gary Worth Preston Worth and Walter Worth all of Longview a daughter Jacqueline Worth of Longview a brother Eugene Willmas of Meeme 12 grandchildren three great-grandchildren tliree nephews and two nieces At her request no service will be held Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice Cremation has taken place under the direction of Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home Elmer Rollins Elmer Rollins of Clatskanie died on his 72nd birthday June 24 2001 at the Hospice Care Center He was bom June 24 1929 in beach ND to Alby Hiram and Bertha Evelanch (Noonan) Rollins and received his early education there He was a 1949 graduate of Tferry Montana High School He lived in Portland and on the coast before moving to Clatskanie in 1975 Mr Rollins served in the Navy during the Korean War from 1949 to 1953 He worked as an electrician for a private contractor and in 1984 at James River Corporation He retired in 1991 after being an electrician for 45 years He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No 48 in Portland American Legion Louis Elmer Post No 68 in Clatskanie and tire Clatskanie Presbyterian Church He loved to travel spending winters in Lake Havasu City Ariz and traveling to Alaska Minnesota and tire southern states He was an out-doorsman and epjoyed fishing hunting woodworking and cooking He eryoyed an ongoing friendship with Elvy Ljungberg of Gustavsbeig Sweden a foreign exchange student his family sponsored in 1981 He married lone Anderson on Nov 28 1954 in Terry Mont She survives him at home Also surviving are three daughters Gay Wuische of Sandy Ore Teresa Bermel of Pendleton Ore and TYacy Hill of Clatskanie a sister Mildred Fomell of Glendive Mont eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews Preceding him in death were two sisters Clarice A Rollins and Irene Johnston a brother Almon Rollins a stepsister Ruth Kiysko and a stepbrother Clifford Rollins A celebration of his life will be held at 1 pm Friday at the Haakinson-Groulx Mortuaiy 15 1926 in Los Angeles Calif to David and Margaret (Lindberg) Kretz She was raised in Toutle attending the local schools She lived in California and Florida prior to returning to Toutle in 1976 to care for her mother Mrs Nall retired as a custodian for the Toutle School District She owned and operated Second Hand Store in Toutle since 1980 She was a member of the Toutle Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary Before ill health forced her to stop she loved going to auctions and garage sales She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Nall and two brothers Dick Kretz and Wayne Kretz Survivors include two sisters Margaret Mills and Kikki Beryamin both of Toutle her close friend and caregiver Ken McFarland and several nieces and nephews A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Herman had thrown a brick at a door and threatened to kill her mother according to a proba Kelso Department of Licensing changing office hours on Tuesday Beginning Tuesday the Kelso office of the
