Seth is the grandson of Steve and Jeanne Harding of Kelso, Mary Laukkanen of Longview, Goldie Loftus, of Longview and Duane and Terri Beres of Washougal, Wash.

Liane Michel and Dennis Andy Cheney, 21, of Flagstaff, died Nov. 27, 2003, as the result of an automobile accident. He was bom Aug. 3, 1982, in Sierra Vista, Ariz. He attended school in Rainier for a year and graduated from Coconino High School in Flagstaff in 2000.

Mr. Cheney is survived by his parents, Bill and Donna (Chase) Cheney; two sisters, Lena Cheney and Julie Cheney; grandparents Lyle and Eunice Chase and Al and Lee Cheney; and many aunts, undes and cousins. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Flagstaff Evangelical Free Church. Burial will follow in Citizens Cemetery in Flagstaff.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sunshine Rescue Mission, 124 S. San I Francisco Flagstaff, AZ 86001. Arrangements are by Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff. Gary D. Wyscaver Gary Dexter Wyscaver, 57, of Leavenworth, died Nov.

26, 2003. He was born Oct. 19, 1946, in Kelso and lived at Cottonwood Lodge for more than 20 years. Mr. Wyscaver worked for Applied Industries for 32 years.

He is survived by two sisters, Judy Carrick and Beverly Wattula; an aunt and unde, Rachel and Roy Truex; a niece; a nephew; two great-nephews; and a great-niece. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Dautermand 75, of Rancho Mirage, California and Longview, died November 25, 2003, in Rancho Mirage. He was born April 16, 1928, to Henry W. and Henrietta Dauterman in Appleton, Wisconsin. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr.

Dauterman was a chief operating officer of Nelson Ball Paper Products Company at the end of his 40 year career in the paper industry. He was a member of the Kelso Methodist Church and the Longview Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Carol C. of Longview and Rancho Mirage; a daughter, Kathryn J. Bankson of Kent; son, Dale N.

of Stockton, California; sister, Barbara Norton of Everett; two brothers, Robert of Carson City, Nevada, and Donald of Tigard, Oregon; and five grandchildren. POLICE BLOTTER Crystal meth Longview police said Jose Juan Bueno, 35, Longview, had crystal methamphetamine in his car when an officer stopped him early Monday morning for having illegal blue lights. Initial bail was set at $5,000 in connection with felony narcotics possession and third-degree drivof ing with a suspended license. Employee theft Longview police have requested Market Place derk Kimberly Lynn Bartolus, 34, Longview, be summoned to court to face a charge of second-degree theft. Police said a private fraud investigator told them last week that Bartolus admitted to him that for several years she has been allowing a friend to go through her station without paying for the items in her cart.

According to the store's records, the till has been short nearly $900. She told police she had been having financial difficulties. She was booked at the jail and released. Shoe investigation Kelso police arrested James Ayala Montalvo, 38, of Burien, Wash, Saturday afternoon at Big 5 Sporting Goods in the Three Rivers Mall. According to police, store employees called police after they recognized him as a suspect in a July 10 theft of $500 in sneakers.

Employees showed police a still photo of Ayala Montalvo in the store with a duffel bag on that date. They told police that Ayala Montalvo entered with no bag and left with a full bag. Ayala Montalvo was booked into jail on a warrant from the Department of Corrections. The theft investigation continues. Pool Bonnie 1 p.m., Cattermole Funeral Home, Winlock. Ruth E. Cummings Ruth Elizabeth (Church) Cummings, 91, of Yakima, died Nov. 20, 2003. She was born July 15, 1912, in Mount Vernon, and graduated from high school there.

She lived in Skagit Valley before marrying Glen Cummings on Dec. 5, 1934, and moving to Yakima Valley. 1970 she moved to Clatskanie. returned to Yakima in 2002. Mrs.

Cummings was a tour guide at the historic Flippin Castle in Clatskanie. She is survived by a son, Lyle Cummings; a daughter, Pearl Fay; and numerous grandchildren and great No service will be held. Elsie Mattila Elsie Mattila 89, of Longview, passed away November 25, 2003 at a local nursing home. She was 0 born Oregon Hamlet, (Johnson) July to Oregon 3, Heino. She attended 0 grade school in Astoria and graduated from Kelso High School. During the war she had worked at the local mills. She belonged to the Yankettes of Kelso supporting the war effort, was a year member of the Finnish Kaleva Lodge of Kelso, she most recently worked as an executive assistant as court clerk in Superior Court of Cowlitz County. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnie John Mattila, a brother Henry "Hank" Heino. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and Mary Mattila of Warrenton, Oregon; sister, Louise Karnofski of Kelso; granddaughter, Allison Mattila of Warrenton, Oregon; and three nephews, Mike Karnofski of Kelso, Henry Karnofski of Castle Rock, and Roger Karnofski of Longview.

At the request of the deceased no funeral service will be held. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Columbia Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice. Albert B. Lushenko Albert B. Lushenko, 88, of Longview, passed away on November 28, 2003. He was born October 3, 1915, in Kief, North Dakota to Andrew and Pauline Lushenko. He married Sophy Popovich on January 4 4, 1942 in Portland, Oregon.

Immediately after the wedding, Al and Sophy moved to California where he worked as a civilian airplane mechanic during the war. In 1945 they moved to Longview. He worked as a millwright for Weyerhaeuser Company until he retired in the late 70's. For over 50 years, Albert took pride in being an active member of the Kelso Masonic Lodge. He served as a board member of the Weyerhaeuser Credit Union for many years.

After retiring, he became a volunteer and board member of the Salvation Army, serving many Thanksgiving dinners, and was instrumental in remodeling the new temple. His interest i in woodworking extended to making toys for the Salvation Army's Christmas Center. He and Sophy were both members of the Grandma's and Grandpa's Club. Albert, a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, is survived by his wife Sophy of 62 years; and his daughters Margaret Lau of Homer, Alaska; Pauline Reid and Alice Belden, both of Longview; nine grandchildren; and 3 great grandsons. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m.

A charge of lewd conduct on that date was dismissed. Jeremy William Poston, 20, Longview, fined $200 for hit-andrun unattended Aug. 24.

DISTRICT COURT Hugh Marion Vineyard 39, Castle Rock, sentenced to 20 days in jail for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) Oct. 6. A charge of interfering with the reporting of domestic violence on that date was dismissed. David Sam Gaze, 48, Castle Rock, sentenced to seven days in jail for violation of a no-contact order and harassment Sept. 5.

SUPERIOR COURT Acquittal: Ronnie Wayne Lake, aka Ronnie Wayne Billingsley, 23, Kelso, a jury found him not guilty of possession of marijuana on Jan. 8 with intent to deliver. The jury found him guilty of the lesser crime of misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Dodie and family JOAN A. (TEMPLETON) SPENCER Joan Alice (Templeton) Spencer 74 of Kelso, passed away November 30, 2003 in Longview. She was born May 26, 1929 in Vader, Washington to Oliver and Verla (Calvin) Templeton. She graduated from high school in Toledo in 1947. She married Morris Edward Spencer on August 22, 1947.

She came to Kelso from Toledo. Mrs. Spencer was homemaker. She was a volunteer for St. Johns and food warehouse.

She was a seamstress and enjoyed her grandchildren ages 1 year to 33 years and greatgrandchildren ages 4 months to 8 years. She enjoyed camping, clam digging, and traveling. She is preceded in death by her spouse, Morris Edward Spencer; and father, Oliver Templeton. Survivors include her mother, Verla Templeton of Centralia; two sisters, Joyce Leach of Chinook, Washington, Kay Brown of Olympia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and John Partridge of Castle Rock, Debbie and Chuck Wickham of American Canyon, California, Melissa and Mark Rohwedder of Olympia; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 2:00 pm at Lone Hill Cemetery in Toledo, Washington with Gary Deskins officiating.

Lulu Bell Lewis Lulu Bell (Powers) Lewis, 68, of Winlock, died Nov. 28, 2003. She was bom Aug. 18, 1935, in Dora Lake, Minn, and grew up in Kelso. On July 16, 1955, she married Ralph Lewis in Kalama.

She was a homemaker. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband; two sons, Roy L. Lewis and Alan Lewis; a daughter, Anne Berneice S. Duchscher Berneice Schneider Duchscher, 85, passed away November 22, 2003 in Hospice Care Center.

She was born November 19, 1918 in Little Rock, Arkansas and came with her family to the Pacific Northwest in 1924. She attended Longview Schools, but graduated from high school in Lakeview, Oregon in 1936. She was married to John Duchscher in 1937 and they had one daughter, Constance. Berneice remained in Longview first as a homemaker, then after attending Longview Business College in 1950, she worked as a secretary at Weyerhaeuser. In 1957 she and her husband bought the Longview Dairy Queen which she sold in 1962.

Her love of community and people led her into real estate and it was a career she pursued for 35 years. She remained active and interested in all aspects of Longview to her 85th birthday. In her immediate family she leaves her daughter, Constance Dawley; a grandson, Porter Dawley; son-in-law, Peter Dawley; her sister, Connie Pennak. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Home Health Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632 and the Longview Public Library, 1600 Louisiana, Longview, WA 98632 A memorial service was held Monday, December 1, 2003 at the Gebert Chapel of the Longview Community Church with Pastor Mary Ross officiating.

Dunlap 83, passed away November 23, 2003 at home, after a long illness. Dorothy was born April 25, 1920 in the family's home near Beaver City, in Furnas County, Nebraska.

Dorothy graduated from Arapahoe Sr. High in Nebraska in 1938. She was engaged to her future husband Clarence E. Dunlap on August 6, 1936. They married on June 16, 1941 in Trenton, Nebraska, and stayed devoted to each other until his death on July 29, 1998 Dorothy was employed under the W.P.A.

program created by F.D.R. during the Depression. Part of the W.P.A. program was responsible for the preservation of Folk art and Crafts. She was employed to teach those programs to the children in her local community.

In 1944 Dorothy made a trip to Kelso, WA with her two year old daughter to stay with her husbands parents while he was serving in the South Pacific Theatre during World War II. Clarence and Dorothy made their home in Arapahoe until 1956 and then moved to Kelso to continue raising their family. Dorothy will be remembered for her dedication to her family and friends. Everyone that came to her home was welcome. She always had a smile and a hug for everyone.

She insisted on being called grandma by everyone, including her grandchildren's grandchildren's friends and their children as well. The Christmas holidays were especially memorable due to the fact all the grandchildren and great grandchildren filled the house to standing room only. The Fourth of July was one of Dorothy's favorite holidays. It has been a family tradition for many years to have a barbeque and a huge fireworks display of our own, which she loved. After ward the family enjoyed watching the fireworks at the lake from her front yard.

Dorothy enjoyed classical and country music. Her hobbies included reading, knitting and crocheting. She crocheted many stuffed animals for the various kids in the family. She also made blankets for every new born child with love. She was preceded in death by, her husband, Clarence Dunlap in 1998; son, Robert (Bob) Dunlap 2001; her parents, Nellie (Inman) Hardenbrook and James Hardenbrook; sister Verna (Pug) (Wells) Hardenbrook; brothers, Verle (Cork) Hardenbrook, Lloyd (Shorty) Hardenbrook, Ebe Hardenbrook, George (Lee) Hardenbrook.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Mae Farwell of Longview; son and daughter-in-law James Allen Dunlap and Mary of Hillsboro, Oregon; sister Cora (Ado) (Hardenbrook) Perkins of Georgia; Aunt Mary (Inman) Morse of Kansas; sister-in-law, Laverna McCrady of Kelso; grandchildren, Lee Rench, Russell Rench, Eric Rench and wife Linda, Tina Dunlap, Kim Bennett and husband Perry, James (Jimmy) Dunlap, she is also survived by twelve other grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren and one great-great grand child as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We will all miss her dearly. A viewing will be held December 2, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, December 3, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Dec 4, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. A private ceremony will be held at Cowlitz View Cemetery for family and friends at 1:00 pm, December 4, 2003. After the ceremony family and friends are welcome at her home to gather and share memories.
